Lip Augmentation

Lips begin to thin with age, reducing overall youthfulness. Lip augmentation can improve appearance by increasing the look of naturally full lips. During the aging process, the lips become progressively thin. This thinning is especially noticeable in the upper lip. Lip augmentation can be performed with a variety of methods including using the patient’s own fat, placing a small piece of Alloderm, an implant, or injectable fillers such as Juvederm or Restylane. Regardless of the technique performed, the goal is a youthful appearance of the lips; however, overcorrection should be avoided to prevent an unnatural look. Each physician has their favorite product to use for augmentation of the lips. Personally, I feel that the newly released hyaluronic acid fillers (Juvederm or Restylane) are extremely safe and easy to use. Hyaluronic acid is a substance that is present in all living things and is, therefore, highly unlikely to cause an allergic reaction. These products are virtually painless following a local anesthetic and, when injected correctly, result in naturally full lips.

Perma Facial Implant for Lips

Lip enhancement techniques may be separated into two kinds: temporary and permanent. Temporary techniques require the use of injectable fillers repeated every 6-9 months to maintain their appearance. Permanent techniques generally involve the use of injectable gel, fat or implants. As a result of limitations associated with existing lip enhancement techniques, extensive research has led to the creation and development of the Perma Facial Implant, a revolutionary new implant used for lip enhancement. For lips, Perma Facial Implant is unlike anything we’ve seen. The variety of patient needs that can be addressed with the Perma procedure is immense. Among the most remarkable aspects of these lips are their natural appearance and ease with which they can be replaced for another size or removed altogether. Never before has a product made for this use offered so many exceptional qualities:
  • Natural appearance
  • Soft silicone/but cannot rupture, deflate, or degrade over time
  • Routine procedure performed under local anesthetic
  • Resistant to tissue “in growth”
  • Permanent, but easily replaceable or removable
  • Does not restrict lip movement
  • FDA approved
